Mental Health Services for Adults

Mental health counseling is a process where you find “your person”. Your person is someone who is there for you, without judgment….without prejudice….without shame and who allows you to be fully and authentically you. Counseling allows you to be free to explore your thoughts, feelings, sensations, and experiences in a way that opens up possibilities for wellness.

People can expect counseling to be a space where they are challenged to think differently but also remain the expert of their own lives. As counselors we do not tell people what to do, we simply hold up a figurative mirror for them to see themselves in a newer, more positive light.

Because we see so many kids and teens, we also work with parents, caregivers, and adults who are involved in these children’s lives. We have specialization in grief, trauma, depression, anxiety, co-parenting, co-regulation, and life-transitions, like having a new baby, going through a divorce, or losing a loved-one.

Parent  Counseling

Let’s be honest - parenting is not easy. It’s full of twists and turns, and we are here to help support you in this tricky time! Parenting can bring on challenges like learning positive communication skills, past shame or guilt, exploring family of origin (the family that you grew up in), parenting shame, getting on the same page as your partner and much, much more.

Our counselors help adults form a meaningful relationship with a trusted “third-party” (i.e. counselor), then explore ways to manage this life-transition in realistic terms. They use a range of methods including Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), and Family Systems Therapy.

Grief + Trauma

Trauma is anything that exceeds one’s ability to cope healthily and effectively.

It is not just the big events like war, grief, and loss of a loved one. We must expand our definition of trauma to be more inclusive of lived experiences of those who experience things like a pandemic, a good friend who moves away, changing schools, or changing family dynamics (i.e. divorce).

Both Dr. Cory and Brittany are trauma-informed therapists who use methods including Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), existential therapy and person centered therapy to help adults heal and reprocess traumatic memories.

Depression & Anxiety

Depression and anxiety were already common before a global pandemic. Now that the world has been fundamentally changed, we have all endured a collective traumatic experience, depression and anxiety is more widespread than ever. Parents are needing connection to help navigate this ever-changing landscape.

Anxiety and depressive symptoms have increased - we are seeing more folks withdrawn or isolated, confused by new expectations, and uncertain about how to adapt to the new rules of the world.
