Depression + Anxiety

Before the global pandemic, depression and anxiety were already common, but in recent years, there has been a notable increase in anxiety levels among children and teenagers. Besides the substantial impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on young people, the widespread presence of social media has also played a role in amplifying anxiety levels among American youth.

Today, anxiety disorders are the most common mental health condition in teenagers, affecting an estimated 31.9% of teens (nimh.nih.gov). Depression and anxiety can manifest in a variety of ways and often looks different in kids and teens than it does in adults.

  • Stomach Ache
  • Fatigue
  • Trouble Sleeping
  • Restlessness/Fidgeting
  • School Avoidance
  • Irritability/Moodiness
  • Perfectionism
  • Crying Spells
  • Changes in Academic Performance
  • Withdrawal

Our therapists strive to establish meaningful and trusting connections with their clients to collaboratively explore practical strategies for coping with depression and anxiety. We use a range of methods including Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), existential therapy and person centered therapy. Through a combination of therapy and practical strategies, we empower young people to overcome their fears and thrive in their everyday lives.
