What’s the thing Dr. Cory talks about more than anything else?
The toxicity of shame. The feeling of not being enough…being less than…comparing ourselves to others and not measuring up. Kids nowadays are going through the toxic shame spiral now more than ever.
This week Dr. Cory talks about what he calls shame triggers and how kids and teens are exposed to various shame triggers online and in video games. It can be sneaky because kids are in their rooms alone so much and parents have no idea when they are being attacked, teased, or worse on their phones, computers or video games.
Want to get ahead of these shame spirals and work on helping your kids process shame triggers healthily? Take a listen to this week’s podcast!
Today Dr. Cory is joined by Kaliq Alexander from the Rainbow Collective for Change. They discuss the Rainbow Collective’s mission and how you can help your child to recognize the diversity in the world.
We are joined this week by Michele Chassner of the Hope Center run by KidsPeace outside of Raleigh, North Carolina. This is a behavioral health urgent care, but also has several services to help children from ages 3-20 with a variety of mental health needs. Michele talks to us about the trending mental health challenges for kids that are commonly appearing in her work and how these services can help. This is MUST LISTEN if you have kids in this age group!
