Meet Brittany Starbuck

Brittany Starbuck is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker Associate. She obtained both her Bachelor’s degree and Masters of Social Work from Appalachian State University. Go ‘neers! With over 7 years of experience working with youth, including working in a therapeutic boarding school, Brittany has a wealth of knowledge and experience to draw from when working with young clients who have anxiety, OCD, behavioral issues, and/or trauma.
She loves helping families work through challenges and coming up with strategies that best support each person’s individual needs. Brittany always provides a safe therapeutic environment for individuals within the LGBTQ+ community, offering a supportive space of self-discovery, resilience, and empowerment.

Brittany also enjoys working with postpartum women/adults seeking help with parenting skills and mental health support after pregnancy and childbirth. As the mom to a young child herself, she understands the complexities of postpartum life and offers specialized support to new moms.

Brittany utilizes a trauma-informed approach to building relationships with clients and believes in meeting people “right where they are” in therapy. She incorporates a variety of treatment modalities in her work including EMDR, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Social Emotional Learning, Mindfulness, Expressive Arts, and Sand Tray Therapy to meet the unique needs of clients.

About Brittany

In her spare time, Brittany enjoys spending time with her family and her pup, Frannie. Her favorite outdoor activities include mountain biking, canoeing, and rock climbing. She especially loves when one of those activities requires a road trip! She also enjoys finding different ways to give back to the local community.

  • Helping families build healthy, positive relationships with one another
  • Helping Individuals see that therapy can be much more than sitting on a couch and talking about their feelings
  • Helping all individuals, including LGBTQ+, with identity exploration, building self-confidence/compassion, and learn healthy coping skills to manage their thoughts and behaviors
  • Working with individuals to provide treatment to help manage the effects of trauma
