Meet Ben Brown
Hi, I’m Ben. I’m a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Associate (LCMHCA) with a passion for supporting children and adolescents—particularly those navigating anxiety, ADHD, behavioral challenges, executive functioning concerns, and other neurodiverse experiences.
I specialize in working with children ages 8 to 14, helping them better understand their emotions, develop effective coping strategies, and grow into more confident and connected versions of themselves. My therapeutic approach integrates narrative therapy, solution-focused therapy, and person-centered care, all within a trauma-informed and neurodiversity-affirming framework.
I strive to create a safe and nonjudgmental space where young people can explore their feelings, recognize their strengths, and develop practical tools to navigate daily challenges. I particularly enjoy helping children strengthen their emotional awareness, build self-regulation skills, and improve executive functioning in ways that are both accessible and engaging. I often incorporate elements of play, creativity, and storytelling to make the therapeutic process meaningful and enjoyable.
Working closely with families and caregivers is a key part of my approach. I believe therapy is most impactful when it’s collaborative, flexible, and tailored to each child’s unique needs. My background in school-based settings also allows me to bridge therapeutic work across home, school, and community environments when needed.
Outside of the therapy room, I enjoy hiking, kayaking, sports, video games, playing board games, and working on creative projects like woodworking and photography. I also volunteer at youth summer camps for children with neurodevelopmental differences - experiences that continually inspire and shape my work.
If you're looking for a counselor who genuinely enjoys connecting with children and adolescents and supporting them through big emotions, learning differences, or major life transitions, I’d be honored to support you.
Available in Cary, NC and Chapel Hill, NC for in person or virtual appointments.
